The annual Gold Star Awards celebrate individuals who have done extraordinary things and made outstanding contributions to their communities. The event is now in its 20th year.
This year’s event took place last Friday (14 Dec) and, in our second year as a sponsor, we were supporting the Good Samaritan Award. In what was an emotional evening, the award was won by James Hart (pictured with Steve Gregor) a 25-year-old from Portishead.
James, a member of the Portishead lifeboat crew, administered CPR, while off-duty, to a cyclist who had suffered a heart attack on the road. The cyclist was then taken to the BRI where he made a complete recovery. He said: “It’s very humbling to be recognised for doing something good.”
