Let’s face it heating controls can be confusing and a recent IPSOS MORI survey of over 2,000 UK respondents reported by the Energy Savings Trust confirms that even those of us who think we that know what we are doing can get it wrong…
Of the 78% of respondents to the survey who claimed they understand how to use their heating controls some said they often turn their thermostat up when it’s cold outside although this shouldn’t be necessary as the thermostat should be able to maintain the temperature whatever the weather.
Others said that they turn their thermostat up when they want the room to heat up quicker which in fact only causes your home to heat to a warmer temperature. Yet others thought it is more efficient to leave the heating on low permanently rather than to turn it on and off.
