Here at Gregor Heating, our mission is to keep families in Bristol and Bath ‘warm and cosy’, ensuring the best service for all heating, boiler, electrical and renewable needs.
#GregorGiving has been a big part of our history and we always look to give something back to the communities in which we work.
We all know how easy it is to get caught up in the day to day without looking at a bigger picture, which is why each year, our team vote to support a specific charity, something that affects us all.
Our Charity of the year for 2018/19 as chosen by the team, is Macmillan.
So here we thought we’d take the opportunity to share a little more about the cause.
Cancer is still a devastating illness, that now affects 1 in 2 people. This means that half of us will be diagnosed with cancer in our lifetime.
In 2015, there were 2.5 million people living with cancer in the UK. By 2030, this figure is expected to reach four million.
However, people with cancer are living much longer now, so the challenge is about moving forward with life with cancer. This is where Macmillan come in.
It has been over 40 years since the first Macmillan nurse was appointed but a lot has changed since then. The Macmillan teams strive to ensure that everyone diagnosed with cancer is treated with dignity and respect throughout their journey.
Just raising £27 can pay for a Macmillan nurse to spend one hour with someone who needs them.
Macmillan has a great booklet of 101 ideas to put on FUNdraising events and opportunities on an individual basis so there is something for everyone that wants to get involved.
Our first big event will be the World’s Biggest Coffee Morning in September, who else is in?
We look forward to seeing you there.
