Is your boiler ready for winter?

It’s that time of year again and although the sun is still shining, we all know that winter is just around the corner and it won’t be long until we all play the game of ‘when to give in and turn the heating on!’

With the recent news of energy price hikes we’ll all be holding out as long as possible to reach for the thermostat and hit that ‘on’ button. But did you know that with a regular health check and an annual maintenance on your boiler you could be saving money. Upgrading your old central heating system to a new energy efficient system you could save up to 30% on your central heating bills.

We recently posted a collection of Top Tips on twitter from the Gas Safe national campaign, for those of you who missed the tweets, we’ve collected some of the tips here for you:

1: All appliances should be annually serviced and checked by a Gas Safe registered engineer

2: Ask to see your engineers Gas Safe ID card before fitting, fixing and checking any gas appliances in your home

3: Know the warning signs that indicate your gas appliances are not working properly

4: Ensure your gas appliances have enough ventilation, check air vents are not blocked

5: GET YOUR GAS APPLIANCES SAFETY CHECKED EVERY YEAR – by a Gas Safe Registered engineer

6: Anybody working with gas has to be Gas Safe registered – it’s the law – it’s your right to ask to see a Gas Safe ID card

7: Only ever use gas appliances for their intended purpose e.g. don’t use a gas oven to heat a room!
